The Day we Met PW

Ok, so I believe if you’ve read this blog/met me in the real life, you are fully aware of how I feel about the Pioneer Woman and all her glory. I started cooking things from her site around the time that I started training for my half marathon, because I could eat all the butter and cheese I wanted without anything bad happening to me. And now that I’m not training, well…I’m just on the lookout for the bad things that could happen to me. I can’t go back to my butter-less existence. You can’t make me.

But anyway, I love her.

And her website.

And her story, delicious recipes, and life on the ranch.

So she took it a step further and wrote a cookbook, which of course I bought immediately, because I knew it would be great.

Which it is. It has great recipes, awesome pictures of her kids and the ranch, and according to K, it’s stain proof.

She got some red wine on it, which quickly wiped off. Bonus!

I also got wind that she would be doing a book tour, and that it would be coming to the Chicago land area.

I basically freaked out. And then called K, who loves her just as much as I do. We made a plan to schlep up to the suburbs (courtesy of the ever patient and accommodating JW) and meet her in real life.

It was so exciting.

First, she graciously answered questions. We were too wimpy to ask any.

This is after nearly three hours in line. K is tired and I am giddy with excitement. We're so close!

Meeting her! She's so pretty (and nice, and funny!)

K is making conversation, and I sort of look like a creeper. I was just so excited!

And finally, a picture with Marlboro Man, PW's husband.

PW was great. She did her Ethel Merman impression (which included singing-how great!), smiled for hours, and talked to everyone. Totally worth going to the suburbs for on a Thursday night.

Especially since I’m happy to report that K and I:

a) Thought of something to ask her about (acorn squash and turkey brining)
b) Didn’t get too sweaty or tongue tied to be embarrassing
c) Only freaked out as if we were at a New Kids on the Block concert in 1989 after exiting the store. Whew, that was a close one.

And today, in her honor, I’ll be doing this. I’ll report back, but expect nothing but delicious when it comes to PW.

Have a good weekend chickies!

Thanks! It was definitely worth the wait! I can’t wait to get working on making all the recipes in the cookbook I haven’t tackled yet!
